Couple of counterpoints:

1) Current 2010 Mustang sales have been lower to dealers (the sales numbers reflect dealer sales, not retail sales). This is because many of the dealers are still stacked up with 2009 and even 2008 Mustangs. They are not overbuying the new 2010 in most cases because it further hampers sales of their existing stock.

2) The Camaro is the new guy on the block. Given that much of the rest of the GM line is NOT selling much, dealers were more than happy to stock up on Camaros. Again, sales numbers reported are dealer sales, not retail.

3) In October of 1993, Mustang sales dipped because the new 1994 Mustang was in the process of being launched late year. Dealers did not want to stock up on the old and tired 1993 models with the 1994's right around the corner.

4) The Camaro will enjoy a retail honeymoon no doubt. But first month sales do not make a trend.
