Wrapping up the Porsche PDK Doppelkupplung event, I’m hanging out at Barber Motorsports track in Birmingham doing some hot laps in the Carrera, Cayman and Boxster (all fitted with PDK). I just drove the 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera S (pictured above). I will be posting updates to Twitter (and here) of every car I drive on the track so stay tuned.
Update: Just got out of the Cayman S – loved the Carrera S a lot better. By the way, I’m starting to like PDK much better than manual right about now. Gear changes are reduced by 60% – you won’t know what that feels like until you drive it.

Update: 2009 Porsche Carrera S w/PDK and Sport Plus = 110% satisfaction. This one has all the bells and whistles (including cooled seats) with a price tag starting just shy of $107,000.

Update: Just drove the 2009 Boxster S w/PDK. It was… satisfying. The Carrera S with Sport Plus stole my heart today. Brilliant Stuttgart engineering. Random PDK Fact: Porsche was the pioneer of of double-clutch transmission. It’s first PDK was used in the 1983 Porsche 956.

Update: Just drove the 2009 Porsche Boxster S with Sport Plus. Saw how launch controlled worked. This Sport Plus feature has me following in love with this new 7-speed dual-clutchness.
