Hi Kieran, As an American and proud to be that and also with some experience behind the wheel of a Torrain the vehichle seems to be a fine american product. I have experienced super mpg and have done nothing but enjoy the car. It is kind of sad for you to put it down without any experience. I do however feel GM has problems with over advertising and poor dealer network of which they made even worse with there resent reduction of dealers. (Big, Big Mistake) What GM needs is more outlets to market its products not less and any management that goes they way does not belong in management. The govt. is keeping them going and hopefully will let them go and disolve as they currently are and be reborn as separate entitites.

The one thing this does though is prove GM can make engines. 182hp out of 2.4 Liters and 32mpg... ON AN SUV? Imagine if they stuck this in one of their new small cars: keep the power rated as is, fiddle with the electronics and exhaust and they could easily be putting 182hp in a 35-40mpg small car.

The last time we had sporty and efficient small cars was in the mid nineties, and the problem today is weight due to safety and emissions equipment. But with that much added power, you can easily overcome it.

The 2010 Mazda3 weighs 3000lbs (hatchback), has 167hp 2.5 liter engine with torque that is about the same and gets only 29 mpg. So GM's SUV is getting 3 mpg better on highway, same in town and has more power.

GM, put this engine in a small car! With the six speed! Don't waste money developing a five speed for the small car on it when everyone will want the six speed anyway. And make a six speed manual for it.

I totally agree...why the hell do we need three different SUVs... i understand the SRX is a little more luxurious... but what's the point of rebadging the Equinox as a Terrain?

You know, this is exactly the reason GM is going down the tubes. Explain to me what is so special about this thing. It looks like every other piece of crap that GM has churned out. It has no special features that make it stand out and no ground-breaking technology that makes me want to buy it over anything else available. The interior looks boring and uncomfortable, the engines are nothing spectacular, and it doesn't even come in a hybrid model. 4 months after this thing hits the showroom you'll be seeing offers for $5k off the sticker price with dealers pleading people to buy them.
