Esquire got this one right. I recently saw a SHO, and it most certainly enlisted "gawks and stares" from me. Great looking vehicle with a nice blend of power, class and fuel efficiency. Way to go Ford. Looks like it took some nice styling que's from the Mondeo. Smart move.

The 370z and camaro are truely great cars. I think they were aiming more to the everyday driver when they made this comparo. Albeit they didnt say this expressly. These cars are or approaching super car territory, I dont think its fair to put them in the same race as a Ford Taurus... Just saying.

Thank God the Taurus finaly looks like something i'd think about buying! Almost made me think twice about getting a truck... Almost

maybe american automakers have stepped up there game. nooo, it couldnt be that now, could it...? if they were getting paid to pick a car it would have been the genesis...

i agree with Will though, camaro or Z would have been a better choice.

YAWN. It is all political with all these magazines including the automotive ones. If you read any of the mainstream car magazines, you see they all touted American cars are the best beating the Japanese and even high-end Euro cars and even the hybrid ones! Just a few years, these magazines all bashed American cars. What a shame!

Did they drive - or even sit in - the SHO before they decided it was their Car of the Year? I don't think anyone else outside of Ford has driven it yet - or at least, no one's written about it. Maybe some people have had a little seat time, but nobody's been able to actually try it out independently.

Also, given their criteria, I feel like the Nissan 370Z or Camaro would make far more sense. They didn't exactly list "utility" or "a usable back seat" as necessary. If all I was looking for in a car was a a good-looking body, great performance and a reasonable price, I probably wouldn't pick the SHO - unless I really needed that back seat.
