Hyundai says delay of ‘Cash for Clunkers’ bill is hurting auto sales: Hyundai released a survey today of licensed drivers showing that 11 percent of potential car shoppers are waiting for Congress to pass the ‘Cash for Clunkers’ bill to purchase a new car. The bill would give up to $4,500 credit to consumers who scrap their old car with low-gas mileage and high emissions and purchase a new car. Hyundai says that the figure represents as many as 100,000 sales each month over the summer selling period, reports Automotive News. Senate failed to reach an agreement on the ‘Cash for Clunkers’ bill for the second time today.
“With sales in the U.S. auto industry forecast at the lowest levels in 26 years, it’s imperative that we move forward with this stimulus bill,” Hyundai’s American President John Krafcik said.
