plastic exhaust manifold? do you mean intake manifold? if so those are composites not "cheap plastics". they decrease noise, dissipate heat better, and are lighter than aluminum. i'm not sure how well a plastic exhaust manifold would hold up to 600+ degrees...

Let's all continue to buy mediocre vehicles produced by GM that continues to use cheaper parts and materials to build there cars while they still charge us higher prices saying its due to inflation and product development expenses. I'm a proud American and support American companies where I can, but I cannot justify spending money on another GM when Toyota and Honda are superior in their products and they outlast GM. I just spend 1600 dollars on parts and labor for my 2005 Chevy Colorado with 54,000 miles on it... yeah, not a typo.. 54 K... I had to replace my cheap plastic exhaust manifold that cracked and leaked air into my cylinders. I also had to replace both front axel seals after they popped and leaked my fluid out. Sure they were 60 dollars in parts, but the 4 hr job cost 450 in labor.. Sure extended warranties are a life saver, but I really expect more out of a car company and its cheap parts at 55 K miles on a vehicle.. GM is a joke!
