Spy Shots: BMW working on a 550-hp M7?

BMW has never been too excited about taking on the powerful Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG – until now. Apparently spies have caught pictures of a M7 prototype luxury sedan.

From the images (check out the full images over at AutoExpress), you can see that the front spoiler has been reworked to provide better cooling to a more powerful engine and braking system. There is also a tiny bulge in the hood that hints at a larger engine.

Of course like every other spy that catches spy shots, the espionage team that caught these shots said the sound they heard was unlike anything they have ever heard from a 7-Series. Sources hint at a 4.4L V8 making 550-hp – yes, the one from the BMW X6 M and the X5 M.
