The Lexus GX, which shares its platform with the Toyota Land Cruiser, made its stateside debut in 2003 and ever since, the SUV hasn’t received any dramatical upgrades. Well, according to the sources of WardsAuto, a next-generation model is in the works and should arrive later this year.
Sources say that the next-generation Lexus GX will get the new 4.6L V8, which recently made its debut in the 2010 Toyota Tundra.
On the outside, the next-generation GX will get a revised sheetmetal and body panels while the inside will see an updated interior featuring the new Lexus navigation system.
Lexus had planned on selling 20,000 units of the GX annually when the model first made its debut in 2003. However, dealers have been struggling to move the large Lexus SUV out of the showroom with April sales dropping a staggering 66.1 percent to 2,210 units.
