Report: Lotus Exige 270E Tri-Fuel may enter production

Youngman Auto, a joint venture partner of Lotus in China, is reportedly putting pressure on Lotus to build a production version of the Exige 270E Tri-Fuel for the Chinese market. The car made its China debut last month at the 2009 Shanghai Motor Show where it supposedly made a big impact.
Ever since, Youngman Auto has submitted an application to Lotus requesting to distribute a production model of the Exige 270E Tri-Fuel in China.
Lotus announced last year that it is working with Jaguar and Queen’s University Belfast to develop a study engine which uses second and third generation bio fuels. The engine will be called the OMNIVORE.
The Lotus Exige 270E Tri-Fuel concept made its debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. Power comes from a 1.8L 2ZZ-GE VVTL-i engine with a supercharger and intercooler package from the Exige S. That allows for a total of 270-hp and a maximum torque of 184 lb-ft. 0 to 60 mph comes in 3.88 seconds with a top speed of 158 mph.
