The Mitsubishi i MiEV isn’t even out yet and company president Osamu Masuko is already planning on increase output for the company’s first “green” vehicle. According to Automotive News, Masuko plans on increase output by 50 percent by 2011 to meet overseas demand.

Originally, Mitsubishi planned on producing 10,000 units of the i MiEV by 2011. The company is now targeting 15,000 units in 2011 and 30,000 units in 2013.

Masuko says that he expects sales to get a boost from a left-hand-drive version slated for Europe at the end of 2010. Mitsubishi will supply PSA/Peugeot-Citroen in Europe. The car will come to the U.S. by early 2011.

The four-seat i MiEV will be the first full-electric car on the Japanese market when sales kick off later this summer.
