I lost interest after I read front wheel drive, if cadillac wants to compete with its german rivals is should be RWD. I'm not gonna care what this thing looks like, I wouldn't buy it over a 128i/135i or 328i/335i. I don't want another Cimarron

Lexus has done well w/ the ES350 & RX350 ... Acura as well w/ the TSX & TL. I think even the Infiniti I35 sold well ... so this may be a safe move. Not every car in a luxury lineup has to be sport/performance oriented ... they could use a nice sedate ride especially when you consider how well the before mentioned cars sell.

They could go one of 2 ways with this
The Audi A4 that is basaclly a Passat but sold almost exclusively as All-wheel drive the the perceived status of Quattro (where as in europe many A4s are front drive and still considered luxury
OR the Jag X-type that is an all-wheel drive Ford Mondeo but has been a disaster because it is a Ford Mondeo (even though the mondeo is one of the best in its class)
For sales in Europe it is a good thing, in the US they have to be very careful how it is marketed.

Front wheel drive is for small cars and non-luxury cars.

Cadillac spent years moving front drive platforms out and rear wheel drive platforms in. Now they are going to go the other way and give up the luxury car credibility it had regained.

Well, I guess I really don't care anyway as I am not likely to become a Cadillac buyer.
