BMW has announced the pricing details on its two latest additions – the 2010 BMW X6 M and the 2010 BMW X5 M. The 2010 BMW X6 M will have a starting price tag of $88,900 while the 2010 X5 M will start at $85,400.

Both M edition SUVs are powered by a 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 producing 555-hp with a maximum torque of 500 lb-ft. That allows the X6 M and the X5 to go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Both models feature an M tuned version of Dynamic Performance Control combined with xDrive, large intakes, a rear diffuser with quad tailpipes, M side grille and 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the X6 M and the X5 M get M sport seats, an M shifter, steering wheels with paddle shifting, red needle gauges and Merino Leather.

We’ve all been wondering who is actually going to buy these high-performance behemoths. BMW says it expects most buyers to upgrade from an M5 or M6. Additionally BMW expects potential customers who have previously owned an AMG or Porsche Cayenne Turbo SUV in the past.

Sales will begin later this fall. Orders will begin later next month.

Too expensive.. no one is going to buy these…well at least not right now

I would get one if I hadn't just leased a new car just a few months ago. If I had known…

These M & Ms are at least much more cheaper than the Cayenne Turbo S–which starts at $124,800 (laughable)…

So is the interior sub-par or is the handling not up to the Cayenne?? BMW had to skip somewhere…just saying..

I actually think they are pretty “cheap” at least when compared to what Porsche and Mercedes-Benz offer.

    What car did you buy?

  • zermatt

A 535xi touring. I like the utility and the all wheel drive, but not the power. BMW won't bring the M5 touring to the US and the the regular X6 didn't seem interesting enough. If I had known that the X6 M was coming I would have waited to test it. It seems like an interesting compromise.
