Mini Speedster model in the works, will rival the likes of Mazda MX-5

While the fourth Mini model, the crossover, will be an exciting one for Mini brand lovers, but the BMW Group division has something more exciting in the works. Meet the Mini Speedster – a model that Mini has apparently been working on for years.

It will rival the likes of the next-generation Mazda MX-5 and the upcoming Honda CRZ.

According to AutoExpress, the two-seater Mini Speedster will borrow its underpinnings and components from the Mini Convertible helping reduce development costs. The Speedster will feature a folding soft-top similar to the Mini Convertible and will also be offered with a removable hardtop that fits over the canvas hood.

Oh, and there will also be a high-performance John Cooper Works model that has us looking forward to this model.
