In a lengthy article by the Detroit News, the publication reported that Ford is offering $1,000 “conquest cash” to owners of Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep owners to trade in their rides for a new Ford SUV, pickup or crossover. Cars are excluded from the offer, which is running between now and July 31.

“Domestic intenders for Chrysler and GM have been defecting to Ford and Lincoln Mercury products in great numbers since the beginning of the year,” said Amanda DeMouthe, marketing manager for Ford’s Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington regions.

sounds like marketing hype to me, I havent seen any statistics saying that GM and Chrysler owners have been "defecting"...maybe nissan owners, their truck sales have taken a huge hit lately. however GM SUV sales have dropped by almost 10% less (27% compared to 36%) this year than Ford's so i'm not sure where they're getting their info...

Something tells me that GM and Chrysler aren't going to be too happy about this.
