According to a report by AutoCar, Mercedes-Benz has no plans to produce a successor to the CLK63 AMG. Since the CLK was replaced by the E-Class Coupe, Mercedes-Benz is having problems fitting an AMG version of the 2010 model in its lineup.

“We had a good look where it would fit into the line-up and eventually came to the conclusion it would be too close to the CLS63 AMG, both in positioning and price,” an insider told Autocar.

Using the C-Class underpinnings for the 2010 E-Class, the E-Class has basically jumped up in class. The insider said that a successor to the CLS63 AMG is in the works.

Since Mercedes-Benz has no plans to offer an E-Class Coupe AMG, the future for the CLK AMG Black Series also remains vague. A convertible and wagon version of the E-Class Coupe will debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show in Sept.

I think a e-class coupe (or previously CLK-AMG) would handle better comparing with a CLS-AMG

That's a bummer, hopefull we'll get to see the true C-Class Coupe soon and hopefully that one will have an AMG sibling.
