Even before its launch at the end of March, Mercedes-Benz has received a whopping 50,000 orders for its new 2010 E-Class sedan.

“In Germany, bookings for an E-Class saloon more than doubled in the first quarter of this year compared to the previous year,” Klaus Maier, Mercedes-Benz sales chief said in a statement.

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class’ predecessor sold more than 1.5 million units.

This is pretty good news for Mercedes-Benz who needs to succeed with its core models as sales continue to drop worldwide. Mercedes-Benz sales dropped 17.5 percent in March to 98,500 units, resulting in a 25 percent decline in the first quarter of this year.
