A jury made up of 59 international automotive journalists from 25 countries around the world chose the 2009 Volkswagen Golf as the 2009 World Car of the Year. The 2009 Golf beat out the other two nominations including the Ford Fiesta and the Toyota iQ.

The 2009 Nissan GT-R stole the title for the 2009 World Performance Car of the Year beating the Corvette ZR-1 and the Porsche 911 Carrera.

The Honda FCX Clarity was awarded the 2009 World Green Car of the Year. It beat the Toyota iQ and Mitsubishi i MiEV.

Last, but not least, The Fiat 500 stole the 2009 World Car Design of the Year award beating out the Jaguar XF and the Citroen C5.

    Gotta say I'm pretty dissapointed that the Fiesta and ZR1 did not win. I think 4 out of 5 people will probably find the Ford Fiesta much more appealing than a VW Rabbit or Golf or whatever.

    I agree man, fiesta and ZR1 should have won easy....then again I might be a little ZR1 biased....

    Looking forward to it. I really think this car will have an impact on the general public and hopefully help better the overall perception of Ford.
