While General Motors figures out its restructuring and financial situations, high-performance models are on the hold. However, according to a dealer posting on Corvette Forum, GM will offer 6 models of the Corvette in 2010, including a Grand Sport Coupe and Convertible.

Ken Fichtner of Fichtner Chevrolet says that in 2010, GM will offer a Corvette coupe and convertible, a Z06 Corvette, a ZR1 model and a Corvette Grand Sport coupe and convertible. Fichtner says that he has no details on colors, trim, powertrain, packages or option, but will update us once they are made available.

The Corvette Grand Sport was commissioned in 1962 by chief engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov. The program focused on producing a lightweight version that would compete with the Shelby Cobra. At the time only five units were built and are now in a private collection somewhere.

What was not mentioned was that the grand Sport will have a Vortec V6 and a CVT transmission.

All of this – courtesy of the new bosses of GM: the Democratic party.

    “Vortec V6″

That is overkill my friend, I think an Ecotec-4 will have to suffice
