SsangYong C200 ECO to be unveiled at the 2009 Seoul Motor Show

Before all the automakers make their way to the Big Apple for the 2009 New York Auto Show, most of them will be heading to the 2009 Seoul Motor Show on April 3rd.

SsangYong will be unveiling a new small crossover concept which will show off the Korean automakers new diesel hybrid technology. SsangYong says that the concept is an “almost production ready” version of the C200 seen in Paris last year.

The concept was designed by Giugiaro’s ItalDesign – the same guys responsible for the world’s fastest hybrid shown in Geneva earlier this month.

SsangYong says that the C200 ECO concept is similar to the Honda CR-V in size and carries a 2.0L diesel engine that produces 175-hp. Mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic and a hybrid system, the C200 ECO increases fuel-efficiency by at least 30 percent with a 50 percent drop in emissions.

A production version is expected to debut later this year.
