Yesterday a bunch of images of a new Acura Crossover Concept hit the web prior to the vehicle’s 2009 New York Auto Show debut.

According to the buzz over at Temple of VTEC and Acurazine (who originally leaked all the teasers to the Acura concept), the concept hints at the future production version of what is known as the 2011 Acura MSX. The MSX will be aimed directly at BMW’s X6 and Infiniti’s FX crossovers.

Power is expected to come from Acura’s 3.7L V6 making 300-hp or Acura’s long-rumored V8. They will be mated to a 6-speed automatic.

We’ll bring you more details live from the 2009 New York Auto Show next month.

The 6 speed is a strong rumor but I would not count on the v8.

The MSX should be a huge opportunity to correct the major design blunder. that is the PowerPlenum….

i constantely read acura bashing on multiple forums (i.e. autospies). i have had multiple acuras and they all have been insanely reliable. in fact, my CL had over 240k miles on it and i still sold it for $2k. my brother has the RL with almost 200k miles. i highly doubt that my current BMW will go over 100k miles. i don't agree with the recent styling themes coming out of acura but i know that they make some of the best cars out there.

Nobody is bashing the reliability, its just the latest designs and lack of a V8. I personaly think the the MDX is one of the best looking SUV's out right no. But the sedans are kind of a let down as far as what I expect from acura. I would definatly take an IS over a TL for looks alone.

Given the lackluster acceptance BMW has experienced with the X6, not to mention the stratoshere price, I do hope Acura will keep the price down as well as not go overboard in styling as Infinity has with the FX series. I will just hang on to my 2005 MDX until either Acura or maybe Lexus presents a better product.
