MINI John Cooper Works working on diesel variant and Mini SUV

Being a Mini Cooper owner means you’re all about fuel-efficiency. Being a Mini John Cooper Works means you’re all about performance. According to AutoExpress, Mini will be bringing the best of both worlds together and is working on a turbo-diesel John Cooper Works high-performance hatchback.

While power will come from the Cooper D’s 1.6L unit producing a total of 110-hp, power will be upgraded for a total of 160-hp. The diesel John Cooper Works is still on the drawing board so don’t expect to see any auto show debuts this year.

Mini’s tuning arm is also hard at work on the company’s new crossover SUV. No word on exactly what type of power upgrades the MINI SUV will see but it is expected to launch after the base model debuts next year.
