We saw the new Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA Concept at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show last week and now Alfa has dropped a very fun and impressive promotional video of the high-performance hatchback in action.

Power for the MiTo GTA Concept comes from a 1.76 turbocharged 4-cylinder unit making 240-hp. 0 to 60 and top speed details have yet to be announced. What we do know is that even though the production MiTo GTA will be more powerful than its standard sibling, fuel-efficiency and weight-reduction will still be part of the game. Alfa says it MiTo GTA “embraces the principle of “˜downsizing”, guaranteeing reduced emissions and lower operating costs.”

A production version of the Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA is expected to arrive later this year.

Though I have to say the serpent logo on the hood is really cool

That's the Visconti's family “four-fold serpent”. The Visconti family ruled the city of Milan the 1100's AD. The other half othe Alfa Romeo's logo is the crest of the city of Milan, which goes back to 1100's AS as well.

ALFA = Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili (Anonymous Car Factory from Lombardia). Lombardia is one Italy's 20 regions, and its capital has been Milan since the Roman Empire.

That's the link to the Visconti's and Milan.

    Thanks for the explanation Brad

I am sure most people didn't know the origin of the cross and Serpent logo

Romano Cattano's original inspiration the “Biscione”
