It seems like Saturn’s troubles may slowly be disappearing. GM has hired former senior auto analyst from Morgan Stanley, Steve Girsky, to help sell Saturn. According to a General Motors spokesman, the Saturn brand is attracting interest from a “few” parties that may want to acquire the brand.

Spokesman Steve Janisse said that there are many investors interested in doing a spinoff while other entities are interested in just buying it. According to Automotive News, Janisse said that he did not know whether the interested parties are other automakers.

GM said it will supply Saturn with product through the 2012 model year. The General said that if it could not find a buyer by 2012 it will get rid of the brand altogether.

Saturn executive wants a clear proposal for Saturn dealers by mid-April.

For a second there I thought you said Saturn was attracting customers, but that aint happening any time soon.

The odd thing is that Saturn buyers are loyal customers, but they hold onto their cars forever.

The practicality that Saturn owners exhibit is admirable, but it doesn't sell cars. On other sites I have read comments from Saturn owners that are upset that he Saturn brand may disappear, but they don't want to part with their current cars because they still have another 100,000 miles to go.

Saturn doesn't make Beetles, Minis, xBs or other trendy cars and Saturn loyalists wouldn't buy them. Saturn is a business model that does not work if you want to move a higher volume of cars.
