That’s right, while the 2010 Mazda3 MPS (2010 Mazdaspeed3) looks totally radical and aggressive on the outside and seems like it could scare the heck out of its predecessor, under the hood is the same 260-hp 2.3L DISI Turbo 4-cylinder that isn’t helping this high-performance hatchback be a truly impressive successor.

We’re not sure what Mazda was thinking but we would’ve been quite satisfied with a 20-hp increase – at least it would have gave the European customers something to feel comfortable about around the 300-hp 2009 Ford Focus RS.

0 to 62 mph still comes in at 6.1 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.

im not sure if this has been answered anywhere else, but is the US version still going to be called the Mazdaspeed 3 or will it be the MPS from now on?

  • Ivan Gutierrez

I'm pretty sure it will still be called the Mazdaspeed 3 here in the states.

Word is that the reason they haven't changed the engine is because in 2011 they are rolling out the new 2.5 liter with twin turbos. At least that is what the forum chatter is.

And the black lip is still ugly.

I would love to see the guy face looking in his mirror and see this smiling face vehicle doing 155 on the Autobahn. The Japanese sure knows how to play with the 'big' boys.

This is way too Much, over the top styling. The Conservative Elantra Touring is a better asthetic choice. That “Smile” grille is a tad too much on these new Mazdas, but the stodgy nose makes it over the top. Alpha Romeo degsins are Pornographic in a classy Emanuelle way. Mazda designs are Pornographic in an over the top Hentai way.
