2009 Geneva: 2010 Ford Ranger makes U.S. Ranger look like… crap

We’re not sure why Ford refuses to redesign the U.S. spec two-door Ford Ranger pickup. Nonetheless, across the Atlantic, Ford has just unveiled the new 2010 Ford Ranger for Europe with two additional doors and its “kinetic” design theme.

Influenced by the Ford Ranger Max Concept, the 2010 Ford Ranger offers seating for up to 5-passengers and a towing capacity of 6,600 lbs.

It will be available in three body-configurations with a choice of a 143-hp 2.5L or 156-hp 3.0L TDCi turbo diesel engines. They will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard or a 5-speed automatic as an option.

    As I've said before, I actually prefer the conservative look of the NA Ranger, and there is no need to remodel it since it's still the best selling vehicle in its class. ha ha it really is.

    Though only reason it would sell the best in the compact class is because of fleet sales. That doesn't mean its a profitable vehicle.

    The Tacoma is a far better pickup, all around and in every way. Ford could get the Ranger back on track by offering a new model in North America, but no, they will let the segment die down before they do that.

    I don't think that they can sell the EU model for as cheap as the current one is sold for.. Subtract incentives from the price and an individual can have one of these for around $10K new–base of course..

    Personly I don't like the look of that ranger. Looks like an explorer. Give me the 2009 sport style anytime over the max concept. If that the new look, they can keep the body,inside looks ok.

    The N.Amercan model is FAR better looking! This new European model is kinda girlie lookin IMO…Whatever happened to the rugged and masculine look of trucks? Why do they all have to look alien ie Tacoma or feminine ie Dakota They older models were far better looking.
