Toyota has unveiled its brand new Verso MPV at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show offering European customers more space, comfort and flexibility.

The interior of the new Toyota Verso features an Easy Flat-7 folding system which allows for five rear seats allowing for a total of 7-passengers to ride in the Verso at one time. Toyota says that it has improved the design to offer more room behind the third row of seats for luggage.

With the help of Toyota Optimal Drive technology power has been increased across the range by 20 percent. Fuel-economy and emissions have also improved by 12 percent. The 2009 Toyota Verso will be offered with a new 1.6 and 1.8 Valvematic gasoline engine. They will be offered with a 6-speed manual as standard or a Multidrive S automatic as an option on the 1.8 variant. A revised version of the 2.0L D-4D diesel will also be available. The new diesel option is a 2.2 D-CAT engine with new 6-speed automatic transmission (will join the lineup next year).

Toyota will build the 2009 Verso at its facility in Turkey.

What's the deal with off-center gauges, why would anyone want the gauges off to the side. i don't know about you guys but i would much rather have the gauges directly infront of me. Oh and paddleshifters on a mini-minivan, these paddle shift things are getting out of hand.

The reason we don't like the offset gauges is that we had been trained to look down for so many years. For me, it has to be at least 35 years. Old habit is hard to break. Having said that, study has shown that the new position keeps your eyes from the road less. I am sure the next generation will complain about the old-style gauge position :)

Back to the Verso, please don't bring it to NA, we don't need another Kia Rondo. If you needed a 7-pax van-like vehicle, add it to the Venza.

I wish they would just lose those big, black, square buttons off to the left–they've been around since the 80s! Geeze!

Well even if this study is true, from an aesthetic standpoint it just looks plain ugly in my opinion. And I agree that we don't need it here in the states, well at least not yet. I don't think the Mazda5 sold well and adding 2 seats probably won't help.
