After releasing a teaser earlier this year, GM has dropped the first official image and details of the Opel Ampera prior to its 2009 Geneva Motor Show debut tomorrow.

Based on the 2011 Chevrolet Volt, the Opel Ampera is capable of traveling more 60 kilometers (37 miles) on battery power alone. After the lithium ion battery pack is depleted a 4-cylinder on-board engine-generator gives the Ampera more than 500 kilometers (311 miles).

Will bring you more on this Volt sibling tomorrow. In the mean time, let us know which one you think is better looking – the Volt or the Ampera?

I dont agree with any of you (about the looks). The front end looks horrible and the wheels look just as bad.

I do agree with Neil though, the Astra and Insignia aretwo of the best cars offered by GM

If GM won't make the Volt this wonderful looking--then I simply won't buy!

IT"S HIGH TIME for domestic automakers to bring us the same stuff!

    I HOPE THEY GO BANKRUPT!

Why do we get an ugly, cheap looking Malibu front while the Europeans get a unique, exotic, and attractive front end which is more appropriate on a unique, new category car like the Volt?

I think this is much better looking than the Volt, not a million or a trillion times better, more like 3.47 times better.

/why can't thry just take the Volt technology and throe it in the Corsa, Astra ans Insginia

If you ask me, the reason people buy a prius over say a civic or camry hybrid is because the prius is undoubtedly a hybrid, while the civic or camry could easily be confused for its "global warming causing" brother. GM probably wants to give their customers the same feeling of driving a totally "green" car. Then again it might have been difficult to stuff that enormous battery in an astra.

    i agree with you

I just don't like the look of these things and wonder if it ever really sells in numbers

I am just hoping that this one is not in concept form ... otherwise it is million times better than the Volt

nope this is production...and it's a trillion times better looking than the Volt
