Mazda has dropped all the details and images on the 2010 Mazda3 MPS (known as the 2010 Mazdaspeed3 on the stateside) before its Geneva debut tomorrow. While on the outside, the 2010 Mazda3 MPS was totally redesigned, under the hood it remains pretty much the same.

Following the design theme of the all-new 2010 Mazda3, the MPS variant gets a more aggressive design with the help of larger intakes, a new front fender and front bumper, a new front grille and a new intake for the intercooler on the hood. It also gets new side skirts, a floating rear spoiler, lead tail lamps and new rear bumper. The 2010 Mazda3 MPS rides on 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels designed exclusively for the Mazda3 MPS.

Power comes from the same 2.3L DISI Turbo inline 4-cylinder engine that makes 260-hp (now at 5,500 rpm)and a maximum torque of 280 lb-ft. 0 to 62 mph comes in at 6.1 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. Fuel-economy comes in at 26 mpg.

The 2010 Mazda3 MPS will make its stateside debut at the 2009 New York Auto Show in April with the 2010 Mazdaspeed3 badge.

I am sorry, but the front of this car reminds me of the Joker from the Dark Knight.

    What a mistake.

i was going to say this thing looks really good…but now that you pointed out that front end I cant help to notice the big smile shaped grille. I'd like to see it in a body collor rather than black . But i still think the car looks great, if done right, the 5 door hatch/wagon can look really good!

Yah, the black front lip is a major style problem. I'd even say the old Mazda3 looked better just because of that black lip. Still, I imagine Mazda will quickly refresh the front styling for the next model year. Its just a shame it has to be so ugly right now.

It is nice to see the performance specs have improved though. The old Mazdaspeed3 took 6.3 seconds to sixty and was worse at the pumps than this one. Through in that I can't imagine the handling got worse (why would they dare touch the handling) and this car is a winner. Just fix the black lip.
