The Hyundai ix-onic Concept (previously known as the HED-6) has been unveiled to local European press. We now have the first live shots at what the next-generation Hyundai Tucson will look like in real-life. We also get our first look at the interior of the ix-onic.

The Hyundai ix-onic concept will make its world debut next week in Geneva with a new 1.6 GDi 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 168-hp. It will be mated to an ISG (Idle Stop & Go) technology and a double-clutch 6-speed transmission.

As the commercial says everybody will learn to pronoubce the name righ tif Hyundai keeps making cars like this

  • Pat

    It's Hyundai – like Sunday…

or moving towards luxury … someday

  • Ivan Gutierrez

Well if not anything else at least it looks better than the Tuscon, but that aint sayin much

  • kabluey

Very beautiful and sleek! Borders on being EU Fordish though–but that's not bad..

…there's just a general lack of individuality/innovation with todays car makers…with the exception of Audi/VW, Peugeot-Citroen, Fiat and BMW…. everyone else is copying everyone… this car looks like a spitting image of the Ford Fiesta…only blown up… Hyundai lack individuality in all respect…and that's why some people will never take them seriously…Mercedez is just trying to play a game they don't understand with BMW/Audi… Opel only now has got a car to brag about (Insignia)… Renault is fast loosing grip against it's PSA “rivals” ….

I'm interested in it,but as my friend_ZiPpy_ told, designing of this car is actually a copy of another one.

  • Neil

I am with ZiPpy on the design point, although I would add Caddy to the list (the 2 incarnations of the CTS have both been as innovative as any in the world)
But lets face it the far-eastern manufacturers have always copied the best Euro Designs – remember the first lexus was just a copy of a Merc.
and look at the back end of the Genesis and tell me thats not a 5-series

  • Neil

thing is, if Hyundai get this to the US market before Ford gives us the Euro Focus/Fiesta (or the great looking Kuga crossover) then most car buyers (who aren't gearheads like us) will think Ford copied Hyundai!
