Mitsubishi announced today that it will withdraw from the Dakar Rally, the Dakar Series and all cross-country rallies due to the deterioration in the global economy.
Mitsubishi said that the move was necessary for the company to focus its resources more tightly.
Mitsubishi Motors won the rally a total of 12 times in its 26 entries in the event including 7 consecutive wins. The company also gained 4WD technology that it will continue to incorporate in its production vehicles.
