Following BMW M GmbH report of a 50 percent increase in 2008, Mercedes-AMG GmbH has announced that its 2008 sales were up 19 percent worldwide – making it the high-performance brands most successful year in its company history.

Mercedes-AMG GmbH sold a total of 24,200 vehicles in 2008 despite the difficult economic conditions. The USA was AMG’s strongest market, accounting for a total of 38 percent of total sales. Germany came in second followed by Japan.

The Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG accounted for 8,100 of all vehicles delivered in 2008 making it the most successful AMG model of all time. The SL 63 AMG accounted for 3,050.

Mercedes-AMG GmbH said that the AMG sports package also made a positive contribution to the year’s success. Sales from the AMG sports packages were up 73 percent over 2007.
