Volkswagen will be bringing its next-generation Polo to the 2009 Geneva Motor Show in March. While the German automaker will be building a sedan at its new Chattanooga, Tenn., plant, it will add the new Polo to its Mexico plant making it more cost effective to sell in the U.S.

The next-generation Volkswagen Polo should arrive in U.S. dealers sometimes in 2011. Of course by that time there may be a minor facelift here or there.

What is yet to be confirmed is whether or not V-Dub will offer a high-performance 178-hp GTI version of the Polo.

How certain are all these comapnies that Americans are actually going to buy small cars, i know the Mini has been a success but where is the evidence unless gas stays at $4/gallon consistently
I am an import in Chicago form England so have no problem with a small cars (will be ordering a MiTo as soon as I can) but most americans are brought up on V8s and the ability to pull a small house – even though most never do!

More Americans are starting to realize that Cadillac Escalades and HUMMERS aren't the way. Especially in well-populated areas and major cities
