The first pre-production unit of the all-electric 2e from Aptera Motors rolled of the company’s Vista, California production facility today. The two-seater, three-wheel vehicle is the first of upcoming fleet of Aptera electric-cars that will be evaluated for full production in October.

Equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack, the front-wheel-drive Aptera 2e allows for 200 miles-per-gallon on a standard EPA driving cycle with a driving range of more than 100 miles per charge. The Aptera 2e can go from 0 to 60 in about 10 seconds with a top speed of 90 mph.

Aptera said that it has already received nearly 4,000 deposits for the car which is expected to cost between $25,000 and $45,000. Aptera plans on selling the first batch of 2e’s in California with distribution to the rest of the U.S. to begin by late 2010.
