Personally I am surprised at the level of technology coming out of Ford. A couple of years ago I can memorize looking at their R&D spending and their lineup and wondering wtf. Now we are starting to see what they were up to. It is really starting to look like Ford is about to leap frog past the rivalry in the next 24 months when it comes to the conventional models that people are really going to buy. A pretty smart move that should net them a heck of a lot more money in the bank than a halo project like the Volt or some EV pie in the sky.

Sweet! I can' t believe it has taken this long to have an automated manual transmission in cheap consumer cars. Torque converters are a power hog.

This is really good for Ford… an automatic and a clutch-less manual is just what their small cars need… I'm looking forward to the next Focus and the Fiesta

WOW! – an amaerican car company developing usable technology!!!

This will go unnoticed and nobody in Washington will care – but this is a great development and if this is thing is as good as the VW 6-speed the engineers should be very proud they helped save Ford
