I agree with you about the numbers. Everyone is asuming the 5.0 will match the power for the F150 that the Mustang has. If you look at the past the Mustang's version of a motor always had more horsepower. The EcoBoost is "The Future" of Ford, so i do for see that motor being used in the F150. My best guess from looking at everything will be.

3.7L Base Motor 300HP 260ft-lb 16/22 MPG
5.0 XLT Base Motor/Optional XL/STX 375HP 375ft-lb 15/21 MPG
3.5L Optional Motor 400HP 400ft-lb 17/23 MPG
6.2L Special Duty Motor(SVT, Harley & Limited) 415HP 450ft-lb 15/21

Actually this engine already exists and currently puts out 365hp. Squeezing out an addtional 45 ponies is small potato's with todays tech and twin turbo's w/ direct injection. Ford has already said this engine is proven reliable long term to 415hp. This testing was done a couple yrs. ago, just think of how much more they can do with it being tested to date in thousands of Lincolns, Ford Flex's and Taurus's!

I highly doubt their information is correct. Firstly, the 3.5 V6 wont do well in a truck. Not because it couldn't move it, but because not enough truck enthusiasts (and normal truck buyers) would believe that the 3.5 V6 is enough to move the big heavy F-150.

Next, it doesn't make marketable sense. The V8 is always the most premium option, what mind-controlling marketing techniques has the Blue Oval recovered from the ancients to be able to convince people to pay more for a V6?

Finally, the numbers seem horribly off. Why would Ford offer two 400 horsepower, 400 ft-lb engines? Whats their excuse for the second one, fuel economy? And where is the 6.2 L engine that we now know Ford will be using (already in the pipe for the 2010 F-150 Raptor).

The source of this information is just plain pulling our chains.
