When General Motors submitted its plan to Congress to get federal loans last month, it said that it would consider selling the non-profitable Saturn brand. It’s now a month later and GM has said nothing about the future of Saturn – in fact it almost seems like they’ve been avoiding saying anything about their future plans with the brand.

However, according to Todd Ingersoll, a Saturn dealership owner we should know the brand’s fate by early March. Spokesman Steve Janisse confirmed that GM and Saturn dealers are “working within a short time frame to have resolution.”

According to Automotive News, Ingersoll said that Saturn executives are studying about five or six options – one of which might allow Saturn dealers to take over operations of the brand. Saturn’s only annual profit was in 1993.

15 years without profitability clearly indicates that the Saturn model is working and should be encouraged to continue. The buyers can't get enough of these cars.

I can see the dealers and investment bankers lining up to get a piece of this action. Only the lottery has better odds of success.

    Sounds like a good investment?

Saturn was created to compete with German and Japanese cars back in 1990, I dont think anyone got that message?
