Chevy has the Aveo and that is Fit sized. It may not be cool, but it falls into the size category. There is no guarantee that the Spark or Volt will be a cars worth owning.

When the Greens decide that the Corvette is an enemy of the earth and that the CTS-V is to be banished for crimes against the sea kittens then our choices will be diminished and life less interesting.

I agree that the government shouldn't interfere with the products these guys make. But honestly, don't you think in order to survive the Big 3 NEED to make car that are the size of the Honda Fit or Toyota Prius.

Fine Chevrolet Spark will compete with the Fit - but not until 2011. The Chevrolet Volt will compete with the Prius but not until late 2010 - if that.

I mean if you look at ...Honda just last year started saying it will bring back the Fit. The concept debuted at the Paris Motor Show in Oct. and will now be in showrooms in April - almost within 6 months!!!

How long has GM been playing around with the Chevrolet Volt? Instead of investing in technology that you DONT have many for or will not make a single penny by selling...why not build something that will compete with the Prius and Insight and MAKE money.

I mean is it really that hard?

I am scared by what government control will mean for GM. Government interference on product determination and/or mix will push production numbers even lower.

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid will be paying back environmentalists that have supported the Democratic Party. The environmentalists' reward will be to decide what vehicles US automakers will produce.

GM's only chance will be to declare bankruptcy and remain free of government control.
