im suprised at how many votes the Volt has gotten? Im guessing half the people that vote for the Volt are joking or have no idea what the Volt is as far as specs, price and release date.

I agree that is my perception and that is why it is my opinion.

The question that was posed asked for a selection of one of three choices and I thought that the three choices were not to my personal liking. I got a Mini Cooper S for the kids to drive and that is a great economy car that has provided just over 30 mpg in the first year of ownership, though the performance tires have worn through in the 1st 6 months.

I have no expectations that either of these cars will do autocross duty or make it though a weekend at Road America as they are not intended to. I will buy Green when Green has a sporting component to it.

To me a car is much, much more than a transportation and today's hybrids would make me very unhappy.

I would pay more for a better car and one of these is obviously better.
Just as comparing a Mustang to a Ferarri is ridiculous, so is this.

Prices aside, one is bigger, faster, and gets better fuel economy than the other. NO BRAINER!!!
Why is the lessor even a consideration?
This is a clear cut example of one company being more advanced than the other. And for the lessor to be tauted around as being a “killer” of the other is a joke, especially as how this new vehicle doesn't even match the outgoing model of the other!!!

without the price tags this is too hard to call (as it would be with any other car comparison). The insight actually looks more like the old prius and the new prius looks a little more sporty with that civic like font end, lower profile tires, and sportier body kit. I'm guessing the insight will come in around $3k less than the prius

…the Volt is too far away from production to compare, they will probably have an entirely redisigned body by the time it comes out and it will end up being a hybrid that cost 50% more than an insight….and dont forget their only going to produce ~10,000 in the first year so most people wont even be able to find one…if they want one :/

I'd buy the Insight, because it is the pioneer. The Insight looks a bit less gayish. It also reminds me of the beloved CRX…Man! that car was orignal.

that's just your personal perception of these two cars…. based on the target consumer group & price, they were never meant to be sporty like a decent sports car… such as the BMW 328i. Moreover, BMW328i's target consumer group has never been “environmental aware” group in the first place… so exactly why you made your comments, I have no idea…. but to me it sounds like you are expecting a Tesla for the price of an Insight/Prius?

I on the other hand think both company did a good job with their hybrid car. Although Honda Insight looks sportier than Prius the fuel consumption + price may not be enough to justify that sportier look. I don't have hard facts for this but I've always thought Prius beng promoted much more frequent than Insight … I've seen more Prius than I have for Insight 8 years ago, and even now Prius still seems to be much more popular than Insight…. who knows, Honda might make a come back with the redesigned Insight

I am not interested in either of them. Both of these cars are not sporty and are designed to scream:

“I AM GREEN, THEREFORE I AM COOL, HIP AND HOPE TO MEET AL GORE SOON!”

Being green and shouting it is no different than wearing designer clothing that is festooned with logos – it is all about you and how cool you are and you can tell by my labels.

If I were going to buy 1, it would be to save $ so I would go for the Insight since it will be cheaper & I could recoup the hybrid premium faster.
