Sales reports are in and General Motors along with FoMoCo, American Honda and Toyota Motors Sales USA reported sales declines of more than 31 percent in December. GM reported a drop of 31.2 percent bringing its total for the year to 2.95 million vehicles sold, the lowest since 1959. Ford Motor Company posted 34.4 percent drop with its year-end total coming in at the lowest since 1961. Honda was down 34.7 percent while Toyota was down 36.7 percent.

Nissan reported a 30.7 percent drop while Volkswagen reported a 13.3 percent drop. Chrysler LLC, which doesn’t have to report its results since it’s a privately held company, said that sales fell 53.1 percent in December.

According to Automotive News, the results were in line with analyst forecasts. The results highlight a four straight monthly drop of more than 25 percent.

Luxury auto maker BMW reported a 35.9 percent drop while Porsche reported a 25.5 percent drop.
