I liket this site too, mostly for the simplicity. I think you would get more comments if it were easier to comment(its already pretty easy). Maybe on the home page you could add a small quote from a reader comment (after a comment is made). I know that when i read a post im interested in and then i see that someone else has made a comment I will be more likely to post a response. And also be able to post a comment on the home page rather than being redirected to another page. Because even though it is already semi easy to comment, you still have to click through another page and wait for it to load, even if it is only a few seconds, i dont like to wait.

isn't that aura basically the same thing as the Pontiac G6? just different badge? except the G6 has more engine options.... and isn't the astra the same as the Pontiac Vibe? but aside from that in my opinion, i don't see the big deal in keeping saturn cars over pontiac... buicks are out of the question, get rid of em for all i care. but if you're getting rid of certain brands, get rid of unecessary and unpractical ones like oh idunno hummer? and buick... saab is not completely necessary either

I love this site. I read this site before I read any other automobile related site. I like the more newsy aspect of the site and I am not as enamored with some sites attempts at developing content for content sake. I am interested in new cars/trucks and the industry and your site does that well.

Commenting may have more to do with feeling a part of a community and I find the Jalopnik/Autospies style sites to be more fanboy oriented. “Mine is bigger than yours” doesn’t interest me and it is my observation that commenting on this site is more open minded. I am looking for a more intellectual experience and not a battle.

As a suggestion to draw more comments I would go with imitation being the sincerest form of flattery. Some time ago Car and Driver implemented a best letter to the editor prize for the wittiest letter. Following the challenge, I noticed an improvement in the quality of the letters and it is the first section I read when the magazine hits the mailbox.

I would expect that you get various items from a number of PR sources that you could award monthly to a commenter for their contribution. BTW, I certainly have no illusions that I have any real wit or truly pithy thoughts, but I would enjoy reading more comments from others.

hmm ACTUALLY, saturn has a few unique models like the aura and the astra. they are sold as chevrolets, but not in america.

i think GM should keep saturn and sell their european cars thru them. do away with buick instead, i see no point in that brand with only 3 cars...

You and a hand full of others (IvanGutierrez, zermatt, allen) are the only ones commenting out of the thousands that read the site everyday...

Do you have any inputs on how we can increase commenting on the site? Do you guys feel that we should do something different? A new redesign is in the works for the new year.

eGMCarTech,

You seriously should consider selling your site to GM. I thought for a long time that every large company (ie big 3) had routine surveys of focus groups and consumers to understand their markets? But obviously they have been out of touch running their business' into the ground blindfolded!

...sell the comments from this site to GM as a "market based opinion" to serve in their board meatings so they can at least consider what some of their consumers are saying about them. This sounds like a no brainer because GM should already have TONS of market input in their decision making but for some reason they still dont understand it?!

While the saturn fans are at it they can also write to save their favorite TV shows.

anguirus is right. Saturn fans should vote with their wallets and not some silly writing campaign. From my observations, most Saturn buyers hold onto their cars forever and are not the kind of buyers GM needs.

GM should trim itself to Cadillac and Chevy and maybe Pontiac. All of the other brands are unnecessary.

GM would probably be more persuaded by the # of them that buy a new Saturn _now_ then sign a petition.

Its not that I hate Saturn, its that I hate that GM expects us to swallow it up, even though its also the Pontiac Solstice and whatever Chevrolet will want it to be. Its that its just a badge over products sold as other products, and while that means its going to be as good (or bad) as the product it really is, it also is a sign of how bloated GM is, and why we cannot have profitable American manufacturers.

Let it die. The Saturnfans don't have anything to worry about, they can still buy their cars if only with a different badge up front.
