  • •  The world’s fastest Audi R8 has just landed.
  • •  5.2L V10 from Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 gives it 528-hp.
  • •  0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds; Top speed of 196 mph.
  • •  Priced at 141,800 Euros ($181,568 USD).

Credit crunch; miles-per-gallon; gas prices (which don’t seem to be a problem right now by the way). Audi has gone against all those concerns today and has dropped the first details and images of the new Audi R8 V10 which will make its world debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show next month.

The Audi R8 V10 is mated to either a 6-speed manual or an R-tronic semi-auto that allows it to return an estimated fuel-economy of 17 mpg.

Other then pushing 528-hp, the Audi the R8 features new magnetic ride dampers as standard, a new rear diffuser to generate more downforce, twin-oval tailpipes, LED headlamps with daytime running lights, high-gloss black paint for the large air intakes in the front, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Ceramic brakes are optional along with a Bang and Olufsen stereo and Nappa leather.

Meh, so they slaped on new wheels and pipes. I want more for the price premium. I think I would rather have a 911 GT2.
