The production version of the 2009 Honda Insight Hybrid will make its world debut at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Honda says that the 5-door Insight will be the most affordable hybrid car available when it hits markets in spring of 2009.

Honda plans to sell 200,000 units of the Insight Hybrid annually – 100,000 of which are expected to come from North America.

Honda’s Insight Hybrid will be powered by a 1.3L gasoline engine mated to Honda’s new hybrid system. Fuel-economy of the production Insight is expected to mirror the Honda Civic Hybrid which gets 40/45 mpg (city/highway). We’ll have more details from the 2009 Detroit Auto Show next month.

that thing looks so much worse then it does in the LA autoshow pics!

It deffinetly looks a lot more priius like without the low profile tires, blackend lights and a little sportier body kit

Yeah I gotta agree the concept car looked way better when I saw it in LA. The production version looks way too much like a prius.
