2009 Volkswagen Golf Plus unveiled at Bologna

Volkswagen unveiled the new 2009 Golf Plus today at the Bologna Auto Show. The full engine lineup is yet to be confirmed but you can expect a range of gasoline and diesel models all mated to either a 5 or 6-speed manual or a 6 or 7-speed DSG gearbox. One gasoline option will include a 122-hp 1.4L TSI engine that will return an estimated 37 mpg. One diesel option will include a 140-hp 2.0L TDI that will return an estimated 46 mpg.

Besides that Volkswagen is also debuting the Golf BiFuel which is powered by LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). In LPG mode the car will produce 98-hp from a 4-cylinder engine while returning a fuel-economy of 26 mpg. Volkswagen says that the Golf Plus BiFuel gives off about 10 percent lower CO2 emissions when compared to its gasoline sibling.

For the first time ever, Volkswagen will offer the Golf Plus with ParkAssist which is also available on the new Golf, Tiguan and Passat CC.
