• •  Even though we kept our fingers crossed, the Panamera still looks awkward.
  • •  300-hp V6 entry level; 500-hp turbocharged V8 range-topper.
  • •  Hybrid model coming in 2010.
  • •  6-speed manual transmission; optional 7-speed PDK automatic.

After all the spy shots, photo renderings and teasing, the 2010 Porsche Panamera has made its debut (either someone broke the embargo or someone at Porsche ‘accidentally’ leaked the photos). Like it or not the five-door hatchback looking sedan is here to stay.

“The symbiosis of sports-car DNA derived from the looks of a coupe, the unique interpretation of the classical sedan body and the benefits of a variable space concept give the new Porsche a truly unmistakable appearance,” says Porsche about the new Panamera.

A truly unmistakable appearance is right. As weird looking as you think it is you may warm up to it just as you did with the Cayenne SUV. The Porsche Panamera will be offered in a Panamera 4S, Panamera Turbo and a Panamera Hybrid versions. We’ll see how the Panamera does in the long run. For now here it is so enjoy the pics.

I'm sure the range topper 500 hp model will give the M5 a run for its money just because of the 7-speed PDK
  • very true... but how about the Audi RS6

I would have to say that it is pretty much how I thought it would look. It looks big, or perhaps heavy, but the 'visual tension' is balanced enough, at least in pictures. To me, it looks better in the darker color - perhaps less heavy.

Look, I won't be buying one, but I bet it sure drives nice. No doubt it will be a fine long distance machine in keeping with it's brand.
