We saw the new 2009 Porsche Boxster S at the 2008 LA Auto Show yesterday and now recent spy shots confirm that Porsche is already back in its designing and engineering studios working on a new version of the 911 Speedster edition from the 80’s.

AutoExpress, has obtained spy shots of the prototype undergoing testing and if you look closely you’ll see a large cover over the back of the car. Spies say that underneath lies a dome-shaped mid-section which is visible from the bulge near the headrests. The new Porsche 911 Speedster will also get a low windscreen and a modified canvas hood.

The engine is expected to come from the same 304-hp 6-cylinder unit used in the Boxster S. A debut is expected late next year.

Head over to AutoExpress  for the full shots.
