FoMoCo has announced that it will shut down its Hermosillo, Mexico, assembly plant during the month of January. The closing will come after the plant’s scheduled Dec. production of the 2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ.
The 2010 Ford Fusion will make its debut at the 2008 LA Auto Show. According to a Ford spokeswoman who spoke with Automotive News, Ford will start the production of the 2010 mid-size sedans next month and will have them ready to ship to dealerships by the end of the first quarter of 2009.
A supplier source said that the total volume production of the new models will be delayed until February. Ford will announce its third-quarter earnings tomorrow and is also expected to announce additional fourth-quarter production cuts.
