Who said sports cars couldn’t be fuel-efficient and fast at the same time. 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds is very impressive for a 100 percent electric-roadster and now Tesla is claiming that its Roadster can run the quarter mile in 12.7 seconds.
Tesla’s validation engineer Iain Morrison, who does all the weather and speed testing for Tesla, ran the quarter-mile run in the Tesla Roadster at Infineon Raceway, California on Oct. 29th. Morrison hit a top speed of 104.74 mph during the run.
Tesla said that the numbers were achieved with the help of the new version 1.5 of its drivetrain that needs just one speed. The previous drivetrain used a 2-speed transmission.
