A 1997 McLaren F1 was auction off for £2.5 million ($4.1 million USD) last night at RM Auction’s in Battersea, London. The McLaren F1 was a showroom car that had just 270 miles on it and sold for £1.1 million ($1.8 million USD) more than the estimated value.
However, the highlight of show was a Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder that sold for £3 million ($4.9 million). The car was driven by Cameron Diaz in Charlie’s Angels.
Overall, 30 percent of the 129 cars at the auction went unsold. It was reported that some of the auctioneers had previously contacted vendors to lower their starting price.
