At the 2008 Detroit Auto Show Honda announced Acura will go diesel in 2009. Steps were being taken to fit a new 2.2 liter i-DTEC diesel engine for the 2009 Acura TSX but there seems to have been a hold-up – and no, it’s not because of diesel prices.

According to various sources, the i-DTEC 2009 TSX has been put on hold indefinitely. Sources say that the automatic transmission version of the i-DTEC TSX didn’t pass emissions testing since it does not employ urea injection like the diesel Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi models.

The 6-speed manual has been said to have passed emissions testing but Honda refuses to only sell a manual diesel in automatic-friendly market. On the other hand, Honda is speeding up development on the V6 TSX and we’ve already heard of a V8 RL on the way.

Hell nah. The TSX don't fit a V6. Maybe TSX with turbo then yes. I say TL is the V6 TSX. Look at the price and trims/models it makes sense. Base TSX 29K > NAVI TSX 32K > Base TL V6 280HP 34K. Its like a trim. but just with a different name. If you add a V6 to the TSX it just jerks everything up. Besides a TSX does fine with a Inline4

acura has got their whole line up competing with each other. they might have a v6 in the tsx, the tl and the rl before new models come out. its about time too, the old and new tsx'a 4 banger just sounded like it was stressing the motor. big ups acura!

That is very unfortunate but in the meantime, Acura should go ahead and stick their IMA system in there. They claim w/ the new Honda Insight that they have cut the cost in 1/2 and matted to their 4 cylinder should be good for ~220hp and over 30mpg.

A hick-up? Hmmm... Are you sure you didn't mean hiccup?

Hick-up sounds a bit racist to me. And since I'm an Obama supporter everything sounds racist to me.
