Lamborghini has announced an all-new race series to launched in 2009 by Automobili Lamborghini. The company has produced a racing version of its new Gallardo LP560-4 called the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Super Trofeo that will complete 18 races by the end of Oct. 2009 in popular European circuits like Deutsche Tourenwagen-Meisterschaft (DTM), the FIA GT Series and the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Super Trofeo has a reworked chassis, reduced wait and more power. Weighing in at 1,300 kilograms (2,860 lbs), the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Super Trofeo is powered by the same 5.2L V10 engine but gets an extra 10-hp for a total of 570-hp. Power is transferred to the wheels via Lamborghini’s E.Gear 6-speed gear box.

Pricing for the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Super Trofeo starts at 200,000 Euros ($252,650 USD). Lamborghini is making only 30 units which they will sell to enthusiasts with a lot of money and Lamborghini dealer teams that wish to compete in the one-make racing series.
